Many years ago, I went looking for a babysitter for my 2 year old son because the day care I had him in was not the best environment. He would cry and pull at me when I left him and we would both be in tears at the end of the drop off process every day....so exhausting! I stayed one day and hid around the corner and could hear them being mean to my child. I took him out right that minute! It was so tough, but I felt that a home daycare would be better.
The search was on...but it didn't take me long to find the most AMAZING day care provider and her family!! They were always smiling and upbeat--no matter what was going on! Ann was so good to the kids, which included her own little ones. She had 3 children of her own and 2 of them were close to my son's age. They had fun and played together for years until it was time to move on and put him in preschool. We loved those few years that we were able to interact with the Salinas family! Such a great group of people!
Later on, one of the Salinas children, became ill. He was diagnosed at 15 with two rare autoimmune diseases that attacked his kidneys he was ready for a transplant at age 20. Now at age 23 he is living life to the fullest, going to college right by Washington DC, eats healthy as ever and exercises regularly and appreciating his health!!!
And do you know who donated that kidney?? His mom. Ann posted this a few months ago:
"With plenty of time to spare today Carlos and I paid a visit to UCLA. It has been almost 3 years since Justin was released after his transplant and got picked up right at this entrance! Words will never describe the gratitude for the entire UCLA Nephrology and Transplant teams!!! Felt tired, muscle aches, sick at times and multiple, multiple hospital visits and stays for 5 years......got a transplant and not even 1 night in a hospital since, attends college right by Washington DC, jogs by national monuments, incredible cake decorator, and feels fantastic!!!! It's about time for me to start my annual promotion of Organ Donation!!!! Feeling incredible!!!"
This one selfless gesture was able to give Justin life and anyone can sign up to be tested to see if you are a donor! I decided to join the team! I will be walking this Sunday on the Just-In Time team!!! Help me raise money for this amazing foundation and support The Kidney Foundation!!
I'm working hard to raise money for 2015 Orange County Kidney Walk supporting Kidney Walk. I know this cause is important, so I've set my goal at $200. I'm confident that I can get there, but I need your help. Won't you consider making a donation on my behalf? Every little bit helps.
